Benji
Hicks Wins Precision Suspension 40

(September
16, 2022) The cars and stars of the American Pro Late
Model All-Star Series made their return to Beckley Motor Speedway
tonight for the 'Precision Suspension 40.' Twenty-three cars signed
in for the $2,500 to win event. The tour had a first time winner
of the Racers in Christ Fast Time Award which was Jordan Hedger
with a time of 14.288. Trevor Sise would go second fast at a time
of 14.301 with Ricky Greene timing in just behind him in third
at a 14.315. One thousandth of a second behind him in fourth would
be Jeff Parsons with a time of 14.316 and fifth fastest was Benji
Hicks at 14.319. Jordan Hedger would go on to win the AAS Dash
over Trevor Sise and Benji Hicks. Race Clean Heat One went to
Hayden Cardwell over Josh Dietz and TJ Salango. Logan Roberson
would take Outside Groove Heat Two over Henry Hornsby III and
Aaron Carter.
The field was
then set for one of the best features of the season. Trevor Sise
jumped out to an early and strong lead. Sise would lead over the
first half of the race which was filled with several cautions
after it started out with a good green flag run. Several hard
wrecks and spins took some of the top competitors for the prize
money out of contention. Once green flag racing resumed towards
the end things got good with Sise, Benji Hicks and Henry Hornsby
III all battling for the win. Hicks threw some major sliders with
Sise getting back by a couple times before it stuck with Hicks
in the lead. Hornsby got by Sise and went for Hicks. With laps
remaining Hornsby moved in on the lead, but would run out of time
to make a move! Benji Hicks would take his first ever AAS victory!
Hornsby would take second with Trevor Sise bringing home the 73
in third. Logan Roberson would take third with Josh Dietz in fourth.
TJ Salango had a great run with the series finishing sixth and
Jamison McBride took seventh. Ricky Greene, Aaron Barley, and
Jordan Hedger would round out the top ten. |
